Through funding from the Centennial Foundation, Bermuda Zoological Society (BZS) and IAC have teamed up to bring you a Workshop on Programme Design, Programme Evaluation, Outcomes Measurement.
This workshop has been designed and will be delivered by BZS. The workshop is led by Dr. Jamie Bacon, BZS Education Officer and Terrestrial Ecology specialist for the past 8 years and a former Senior Lecturer in Biology at the Bermuda College for 7 years; and Dr. Alex Amat, BZS Educator and Marine Science specialist with over 15 years of experience in science and foreign language education. Dr. Bacon and Dr. Amat will be assisted by Dr. Stephanie Toro, a curriculum and instruction specialist. Dr. Toro has over 18 years of experience of designing, developing, and implementing programs and program evaluation in both formal and informal education settings. Her approach combines practical experience with theoretical knowledge of best practice in research.
This workshop is the result of request made to BZS to share its challenges and successes in developing and implementing its GASS (Generating Academic Success in Science) Programme. The BZS GASS programme was developed in response to BZS donors requiring numeric data in order to evaluate the effectiveness of BZS classes.
Hopefully, this workshop is the first of a series that will delve into programme design, implementation and evaluation. The intent of this first workshop is to help establish relationships and collaborative networks among the participants, provide opportunities to learn as well as reflect on current practices, and to provide insight and support to others through brainstorming sessions. It is often the case that some of the best ideas we can utilise arise when we are reviewing and proposing solutions for the challenges of others.
